Women’s Guild

A Letter from the Guild President:

As the President of Saint Edward’s Guild, I wish to express my deep appreciation to the Guild’s Past Presidents and Officers for their commitment and dedication. The Guild was founded in 1965 with Margo Crawford serving as the founding president along with thirty founding Guild members.  The membership has continued to grow, this year we have two hundred and seventy five women enrolled as members. We are also proud to be a member parish of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW), a respected national organization for the community and spiritual development of Catholic women.

Much has been accomplished in the past forty-six years. However, our mission to nurture the spiritual life of our members continues and has remained the same, and in doing so we are able to support our parish community and our community at large.

I would like to encourage all the women in the parish to consider joining this committed, vibrant group of women and becoming spiritually and socially involved in the parish. The only requirements are that you are registered as an active and contributing parishioner of Saint Edward Catholic Church.

The Guild meetings are scheduled from October through May, on the second Wednesday of the month beginning with the celebration of the Eucharist at morning Mass, followed by refreshments and a social hour at the Parish Center.

General Information

Mission Statement

To nurture the spiritual life of St. Edward’s women’s community and in doing so extend support to our parish community and the community at large.

Monthly Meetings

The Guild meets on the second Wednesday of each month from October to May following morning Mass. Refreshments are served and a guest speaker presents a talk. Whether serious or light-hearted we try to keep the subject matter relevant to all.

How to Become a Member

Any woman who is an actively registered member of St. Edward parish is invited to join the Guild. Membership applications are mailed over the summer and our Directory is published in the fall. Members are expected to attend all major Guild-sponsored events as well as our monthly meetings. We rely on member participation to grow and strengthen our mission in the parish and the community at large. Please contact the parish office 561-832-0400.

How We Give Back

Under the guidance of our pastor, Monsignor Thomas J. Klinzing, and through the committed efforts of our parish and the 275 members of the Guild we contribute to our community in a number of ways.

Our first responsibility is towards the upkeep of our beautiful and historically significant church so that it will continue as a lasting legacy to the parish to be enjoyed as a place of worship for generations to come.

Additionally, we are deeply committed to serving the needy through several local area food pantry programs including St. Ann’s Place, The Caring Kitchen and The Westgate Tabernacle.

In all, we provide on average 750 meals per week.

We also support Catholic education in the form of scholarships awarded to local schools including St. Ann’s, Sacred Heart and Cardinal Newman, among others. As well, we support our own parish religious education programs.

In 2007 we proudly funded the construction of a Habitat for Humanity house for a local needy family.

Volunteer Opportunities

Please contact the parish office to be referred to a member of the Board who will explore with you the many volunteer opportunities within the Guild. Many hands are needed and welcome to accomplish our goals.
